We’re All Ears December 2014 Inspiration
The inspiration for this month’s We’re All Ears earring design challenge is this amazing anamorphic sculpture. It’s called “Breaking Wave” and is the creation of Plebian Design and Hypersonic.

The theme for this week’s Self-Representing Artists in Jewelry Design blog challenge was “winter” or “December.” This was a theme chosen by popular vote among the members.
I didn’t have to do any research for this jewelry design challenge theme. And it wasn’t difficult to get inspired.

I was so honored that Brenda let me design this badge for the challenge. It’s being featured on blogs across the www as people are gearing up to participate.
I am contemplating taking part in the Build a Line Design Challenge in 2015. It’s a master class being taught by Brenda Sue Lansdowne of B’sue Boutiques. The objective of the class is to develop a prototype of a jewelry line.
As you may know, I’ve been struggling to define my style and develop a cohesive look to my jewelry designs. I have no idea how to start. So, in theory, this challenge seems like just the sort of boot camp my muse and I need to find our voice.
I say “in theory” because the first step of the challenge/class is to pitch an idea to Brenda. What’s holding me back is the requirement that components from B’sue Boutiques be visible and prominent parts of the designs. Continue reading

It’s reveal day for the 2nd annual Bead Hoarders Blog Hop! This is my first time participating, but I have been a bead hoarder for many years.
Our hostess for this hop is Lori Anderson. I met Lori, virtually, earlier this year when I took part in her Bead Soup Blog Party. That was my first blog hop, and my introduction to so many amazing jewelry and component designers.

The inspiration for this month’s We’re All Ears challenge on the Earrings Everyday blog was a short animated film about a mystical creature and a young girl. I’m no kind of film critic, so I can’t say why I was so enchanted by this short film. All I can say is, much like our hostess, I’d love to see this made into a full-length feature.
The story takes place in a forest, so there’s lots of nature images and colors by which to be inspired. And I do love earth tones for my jewelry. However, I was more inspired by the misty white-winged mystical creature that came to drink from the well where the little girl was filling a bucket. Continue reading
